Party Time. My acrylic on canvas painting. 22 x 28 inches
Two robust women dressed in their best on their way to a party. When we are invited to a party, we usually carry along something yummy like jollof rice, plantain and fried chicken to add to the food largess.
I had so much fun painting this based on memories of 60s fashion and our rugged red food warmer/cooler.
Many Nigerians will instantly remember the cooler and knee length wrappers of yesteryears. The memory brings us much joy.
The fashion is called iro (wrapper), buba (roomy blouse) and gele (headwrap) in Yoruba Language.
Yoruba is spoken in West Africa especially south west Nigeria.
The corn crop symbolizes fruitfulness and mirth.
Ladies you look so good.
I will ship this painting rolled in a tube.
It will surely brighten up your living space and start happy conversations.
